Expert's journal: how do you write such an amazing essay?

First and foremost an expert doesn’t begin writing until they know what their thesis is. That sounds simple enough, but that’s only because plenty of students underestimate just how polished a thesis can really be—and how much that can lend to the finished essay. A truly well crafted thesis can serve as a road map for the finished essay.
Many students think that writing essay outlines was busy work assigned to them when they were in grade school, and that such techniques are beneath the college level student. Not so. On the contrary, creating an outline is even more useful in terms of the complex university level essays students are expected to write. An outline is hardly necessary for a top level student writing grade school level essays. However, learning to do so in grade school provides that same student with the skills they’ll require in order to write a detailed, helpful outline that can result in a far high quality sophisticated essay of some length.
Another thing that students underestimate is the power of editing. No professional writer—not one—moves forward with their pieces without investing in the skills of a great editor. Editing can turn a mediocre essay into a good one, and a great one into one which is truly worthy of professional admiration. Students should always, without exception, seek the services of a trusted third party editor. That can mean finding another student in the same department who possesses editing skills, appealing to graduate students within the department, or even hiring an editor. This last is often the best option (and is the one that most professional writers choose).
While most of our examples are about purely practical, routine strategies for creating amazing essays, there’s also something to be said for creativity. What students must ensure is that they are communicating the same quality and quantity of information. If they can do so, while communicating it in a unique, creative, one of a kind manner, they should do so.
